These two won't eat anything but oatmeal for breakfast. I, on the other hand had a delicious breakfast!
Sautéed sweet potato with onion (I have been obsessed with caramelized onions lately) and spinach and 2 fresh eggs from my moms chickens (thanks mom!). Yum!
After breakfast the kids continued to go crazy while listening to my Disney playlist that I made and love!
I contemplated taking them out to the park in the morning so that they could get all of their energy out. Since I slept in it was already almost nap time and I still had a sink full of dishes and piles of laundry to do. So the kids "helped" me get my stuff done, we ate lunch then it was nap time.
Hunter is so good about naps! Give him his pillow and blanket and he'll fall asleep almost instantly. I so wish Ari was like that, but she never has been and I am pretty sure she never will be. It took me nearly an hour to get her to fall asleep. Both kids slept well giving me some time to do my homework. I am so glad I did not procrastinate today and that I actually used my free time wisely. My homework is mostly done and I don't have to worry about it for the rest of my weekend!
I promised the kids I would take them on a walk to the park today. I fulfilled my promise when they woke up from their naps. I packed them some snacks and off we went. The park is just over half a mile away from my apartment. I am proud to say that I can ALMOST jog the whole way there without stopping. Progress! Pathetic that I can barely go that far, but I have never been a runner. It is something that I'm just getting into now. My goal is to be able to jog a full mile by the end of next month. Maybe sooner.
After jogging around the neighborhood a bit first we got to the park and the kids were excited and ready to play. Shortly after we arrived at the park a cute elderly couple arrived with their dog. My kids have been obsessed with dogs lately. We want to get one so bad, but there is no way I am willing to deal with one in an apartment. More motivation to get ready to buy a house! The dog was very sweet and super friendly. The kids were in love! The elderly couple did not speak very much English, but they were so sweet to the kids and let them throw the ball for the dog.
Ari was in heaven. She thought it was the funniest thing to see the dog chase the ball.
Right when we were leaving the park a friend of mine drove by and stopped to play with her kids. I didn't need to be home right away so I took the kids back and let them play for a while longer. They had so much fun being chased and tickled by the big kids. Neither one of them was ready to leave when it was time.
We ended our day with salmon, asparagus and zucchini for dinner, ice cream for dessert and then baths!
